The DPN Affiliate Program attracts Accountants and Financial Planners
Andrew An is a Broker. Simon Perkovich is a Chartered Accountant. Both have been working in the industry for some time and have built up a strong base of trusted and loyal clients.
What they also both have in common is that they have each taken the rewarding step of becoming Affiliates of DPN.
This has partly been in response to a change in the industry, where there is an increasing trend for Financial Advisers, be they Brokers, Planners or Accountants to be something of a one-stop-shop.
As Andrew An puts it: “There’s been a shift in the industry with a lot of mergers, so a lot of people are entertaining the idea that it’s quite important not just to be a specialist in their field but to have an acquaintance in other fields or connect and join with other specialists where they can be a one-stop-shop.”
Andrew Gale of Chase Corporate Advisory notes that the “blended practice” or merging of roles is indeed becoming more common.
“Certainly, we’re seeing a really strong convergence coming through in Financial Planning and Accounting,’’ he notes. “Part of it is the realisation from people, whether they’re from a Planning background or an Accounting background, that they have a desire to provide a truly holistic service, especially to their high-net-worth clients.”
It’s the thoughtful, well researched approach that makes DPN so attractive to my clients.
However, convergence or offering a holistic service is not as easy as it seems. It requires either bringing in new people and resources, which may not always be a good fit for the existing practise, or else adding new skills, which requires training. Certainly the easiest option is to refer clients to a trusted, experienced and successful practitioner.
Andew An backs this up, commenting that: “I don’t have the manpower to do everything in house so I’d rather have the relationships where I can refer my clients to financial planning, or legal or property investment.”
This leads on to another change, which is the increasing desire shown by clients to invest in property. Simon Perkovich says: “ I like property and most of my clients like property... I tend to attract clients that are property focussed.”
For both Perkovich and An, it made complete sense to refer their clients to DPN. Both speak very highly of their experiences. Says Perkovich: “... the guys at DPN put together a really good property plan strategy and they conservatively cash flow it out. Add 10 to 15 years capital growth and my clients are in a very strong position indeed.”
Andrew An says he was so pleased with the wealth his clients were generating from DPN’s property plans that he bought an investment property himself through DPN.
“They’re very professional in how they approach their business and clients” An says” my clients were all very happy.
Perkovich says it’s the thoughtful, well researched approach that makes DPN so attractive for his clients: “To be able to give clients exceptional service and strong capital growth is a great thing. It gives them a level of detail to build up a property portfolio.”
Beyond the generous remuneration benefits inherent in partnering with DPN, both An and Perkovich say that the wonderful experience their clients have with DPN helps to solidify their loyalty. Perkovich points out: “It reflects well on me to have found this service for them.”
He adds that what makes DPN unique is that “it’s a lifelong partnership. Other property companies you simply never hear from again.” For Advisers like An and Perkovich DPN offers a stable and successful model of tailored property investment options for their clients.
An says their model is just as attractive to himself as to his clients: “I’m time poor, I like to invest and I simply don’t have the time or resources to do what DPN does... to know where or what to buy, to research the prices, location statistics and forecast growth.”
