Many of the major banks and lenders are offering financial relief packages, including waiving of mortgage repayments for up to six months. A hold on evictions for tenants in NSW
The NSW Department of Fair Trading has released guidelines including a handy flow chart for tenants financially disadvantaged by COVID-19 to understand if they qualify for the 2 month and 6 month moratorium.

Extra relief for QLD households
The government's household relief package will give Queensland households $200 off their utility bills, building on the $50 asset dividend already announced.
The Queensland Government has released temporary and targeted measures that will apply for six months to properties where the tenant is impacted by COVID-19. The moratorium on evictions will only apply to tenancies where the tenant’s income has been reduced as result of COVID-19 and the tenant is at risk of eviction. Tenants will be able to have break lease fees capped, and tenancies that expire during this crisis will only roll over to September 30 2020 at the latest. Qualifying criteria apply and there are rights to support both tenants and landlords.

Six month moratorium on NSW residential tenancy evictions during COVID-19
In response to the Federal Government's 6 month moratorium, the NSW Government Department of Fair Trading has released guidelines for an interim 60-day stop on landlords seeking to evict tenants due to rental arrears as a result of COVID-19, together with longer six month restrictions on rental arrears evictions for those financially disadvantaged by COVID-19. Qualifying criteria apply and there are rights to support both tenants and landlords.
NSW state government unveils $440 million for rent relief
While there are a number of restrictions on non-essential services, leasing is considered an essential service. It is still being conducted and is our number one priority. We are still experiencing demand in a number of regions we service, with some areas leasing before handover.
Landlords experiencing hardship
For property owners experiencing hardship, our DPN Finance team can assist you to navigate a bank ‘holiday’ application to put mortgage payments on hold or a refinance to achieve a better interest rate, which can save you significantly on your loan repayments. We are working hard to manage your property and closely monitoring the Government’s announcements to keep you informed of new information as it becomes available.
A small portion of our tenants have contacted us with concerns about rental payments as they have been affected financially from COVID-19. Our team has been working with those tenants to help them continue to meet their contractual rental obligations. We have been able to manage this to date with good success.

At this stage, construction remains an essential service and the industry continues to operate as ‘business as usual’, with some necessary adjustments to ensure compliance with the Australian Federal Government’s measures in respect to COVID-19.
