$200 million deal for new Maroochydore city centre

The city blocks set to be developed by John Holland.
A deal between the Sunshine Coast Council, John Holland Group, SunCentral and the University of the Sunshine Coast has been struck for the new Maroochydore city centre. The $200 million deal include five ‘super lots’ that will be transformed into a high-rise civic centre. The Sunshine Coast Council will be a key tenant and will establish its council chamber, customer service and office space on one of the five lots. The University of the Sunshine Coast is also looking to establish a campus in the new city centre with teaching, research and accommodation facilities.
With the growth of the new CBD and the new airport’s arrival, developers like John Holland Group were extremely interested in having a presence in the new city centre. The first stage of construction on the new CBD is anticipated to begin next year according to Mayor Mark Jamieson. Over the life of the project, $7-$8 billion worth of construction is expected.
