Proposed Brisbane Live entertainment precinct
The $2 billion entertainment precinct would be in central Brisbane
The Brisbane Live proposal was first discussed in 2016 and spent a year in review as part of the first stage of the market-led proposals and assessments. These assessments include informal discussions between the government and the proponents. The second stage of the market-led proposals process is “equivalent to preparing a detailed bid during a competitive tender process,” according to the Queensland Treasury, when it comes to time and effort. After this stage, the government will decide if it will move forward with the project.
The entertainment precinct proposal was modelled on L.A. Live in Los Angeles and designed by NRA Collaborative. It would comprise Brisbane Arena with 17,000 seats, three new commercial towers, 12 hectares of landscaped parkland and residential developments. Brisbane Live would develop the area above the railway lines.
