Coffs Harbour ticks all the boxes for investors

With strong economic and population growth, Coffs Harbour is now considered a major regional centre on the Mid North Coast.

Thanks to forward-thinking strategies and a commitment to sustainable growth, Coffs Harbour’s economy is surging towards an exciting future. With substantial local, state and federal government investment, upgrades have revitalised the town and continue to grow to meet the needs of an expanding community.

Despite the changes, Coffs Harbour retains its breezy, beachy vibe with a strong focus on balance between work and play. With relatively affordable housing compared to metro areas, the home of the Big Banana is set to welcome new residents and property investors, now and into the future.

Expansion for population growth

Coffs Harbour has long been a popular spot for retirement, nature-inspired lifestyle changes and holidays including both domestic and international tourists. As the town has continued to attract residents, traditional economic sectors such as fishing, agriculture and tourism have expanded into education, health, technology and more. The current population is 76,879. By the year 2036, that’s expected to rise to 96,087 and strategies are firmly in place to meet future workplace and community needs.

Infrastructure continues to boom

In recent years, Coffs Harbour has welcomed significant upgrades. A $6.5 million revamp of the airport was completed in 2017 and over $30 million went into commercial industrial and office spaces. The Jetty Foreshore upgrade already features a boardwalk, a plaza area and events space, and the recreation hub is set to expand further.

A redevelopment project for the Coffs Harbour Hospital Campus is underway, with the NSW government committing $194 million. This will significantly expand community health services with new operating theatres, a short stay surgical unit and ambulatory care area, among a range of proposed enhancements.

The ongoing C.ex Coffs International Stadium upgrade means that Coffs is the place to be for premier sporting events in the region. Along with creating jobs, generating revenue opportunities and attracting high-profile events, local schools and sports groups benefit from the new facilities.

Lifestyle benefits are a major drawcard

Coffs Harbour is situated between Brisbane and Sydney, boasts a fantastic climate and rests within natural wonders that encompass beautiful beaches, national parks and sprawling countryside panoramas. Combined with services such as the National Broadband Network, easy transport links, university level education, increased employment opportunities and a thriving health care sector, it’s ticking all the right boxes for excellent livability.

The diverse - and still affordable - property market includes everything from beachside houses to suburban blocks and hinterland retreats. Living sustainably is a top focus for many residents and the Coffs Harbour City Council has committed to a renewable energy target of 100 per cent by 2030. This strong focus stretches to initiatives including community gardens, sustainable living events and a wealth of farmers markets in the surrounding region.

With big city services and small town benefits on a stunning natural backdrop, it's little wonder that property investors are standing to attention.
