Meet Jacques & Marcelle

Jacques and his wife Marcelle immigrated to Australia from South Africa nine years ago. They were seeking a better lifestyle and a safe place to raise their twin girls, who were just four at the time.

They found the exchange rate ‘daunting’, with 12 rand buying them just one Australian dollar. Despite selling a large home in South Africa, their money could not get them a home anywhere in Sydney. Jacques explained the situation left them feeling hopeless. Nevertheless, they found a home to rent and begun to establish themselves.  

Fortunately, the couple were educated and keen to work in Australia.  Jacques is an IT professional and currently works for DPN. Marcelle is a data analyst.
